What is your plan of action for preventing child abuse?

Nov 24th, 09

Dear Friend:

During the last few weeks, Kentucky has received recognition on national and local media. The headlines read, “Kentucky Ranks # 1…,” but columnists and reporters are not talking about University of Kentucky Football, University of Louisville Basketball or horse racing.  The media and the nation are talking about the Every Child Matters Education Fund releasing a report ranking Kentucky #1 in child deaths related to abuse and neglect.

These recent headlines illustrate the work we, as a state, have ahead of us. Last year over 88,292 children were reported to the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services as being the victims of abuse or neglect.

Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky (PCAK), is creating a plan of action to better the lives of Kentucky’s children. Through public awareness campaigns, parent education and support programs, professional training, technical assistance, and community-based prevention programs, we can make a difference. Now more than ever, our children need your commitment and support. Please take a moment to look at the enclosed flyer, decide what form of action you would like to take and join us.
