FRANKFORT, Ky. — A bill that advocates said could save lives by helping doctors, nurses, day care workers and others better recognize signs of child abuse won unanimous approval from a House committee Thursday.

FRANKFORT, Ky. — A bill that advocates said could save lives by helping doctors, nurses, day care workers and others better recognize signs of child abuse won unanimous approval from a House committee Thursday.
 

Rep. Addia Wuchner, R-Burlington, the primary sponsor of House Bill 285, said she decided to file it after several high-profile cases involving infants in her Northern Kentucky area who were killed or severely injured by abuse.

“We owe this much to the numerous children who suffer at the hands of an abuser,” she in an interview after the Health and Welfare Committee approved her bill.
